Monday June 29th
To all of our friends at CrossFit Old Bethpage,
I meant to write this post about two weeks ago, but everything with our new box started coming together really fast. In fact when I was leaving CFOB after the WOD a couple of Fridays ago, Phil stopped me and asked if that was it, and I responded “no I’ll be back during the week”.
Well that didn’t happen so we, Tara and I, want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at CFOB.
When we first came to CFOB a little over a year ago we realized we were going to get a good workout (duh, pretty easy to figure out when you’re told to do 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, and 15 squats as fast as you can for the next 20 minutes). We were quickly sold on the CF training methodology, but what we didn’t expect and I like to call the “X” factor is the camaraderie and the friendships that would be built, and are a part of CrossFit.
The community that is CFOB is nothing short of amazing. A diverse group of people brought together by one common interest, willing to bend over backwards to help one another. This is not something you see everywhere in life, and should truly be appreciated by all who are a part of it. We only hope that we were able to contribute to this dynamic while we were members.
We thank you all because discovering CrossFit and CFOB has forever changed our lives. If someone asked us a year ago what we would be doing now, I highly doubt we would have answered, “opening a CrossFit affiliate”. But we have and we love it! We hope that as we embark on our journey running our own box, we can create the same type of community that you are all a part of at CFOB.
Most importantly we want to thank you Chris, we have learned so much from you. You have become a great friend and we can’t tell you enough how highly we think of you. You have taught us so much, for example, I learned that if you pretend you don’t know how to do something (install coat hooks, key hooks, posters, straps for ropes, use velcro, etc.) one of the members will always step in and take care of it for you. Seriously though, we owe you a debt of gratitude and want you to know you can count on us for anything you need.
We want everyone at CFOB to know they have an open invitation to come train at our box. We are really proud of what we’ve built and would love to share it with our friends. We hope to see all of you soon. Continue to train smart, train hard, get fit and have fun doing it!
Doug and Tara
P.S. Thanks Mike, I see you didn’t wait very long before dethroning me from the one leaderboard I owned. But I guess we all can’t have a freakish deadlift like you.
